South Korean car manufacturing giant Hyundai has launched itself into the metaverse via an array of different initiatives.
Distilled in an ethos of community and interaction, the new, overarching Web3 endeavour from the company is called ‘Metamobility Universe’ (reflecting its ‘Metamobility’ concept which aims to pioneer smart device-metaverse connection using VR).
The project’s genesis launches together with an NFT collection, a website, Discord and Twitter channels, and a short introductory film. This film featured a gorilla character driving in Hyundai car models throughout space, alluding to the company’s illustrious partnership with the Meta Kongz NFT brand.
On April 20th, 30 limited edition Hyundai x Meta Kongz NFTs will be released, with profits from the collection going towards the project’s management and community members. Holders of such NFTs will also will receive a bundle of Hyundai official NFTs when Hyundai launches an official NFT collection in May 2022.
Although Hyundai are far from the first car manufacture to take the plunge into the metaverse (as the likes of Mercedes, Audi and Ferrari (just to name a few) have already launched NFT collections), its multi-faceted ‘Metamobility Universe’ concept is arguably the most thorough and long-term-oriented of the lot.
