In the NFT space, there are a countless number of copycat projects imitating successful collections. If you’ve been following NFTs for a while now, then no doubt you’ll have seen the animal profile picture project with an overly ambitious roadmap time and time again. While this may work in the bull run, in the bear market, it takes something outstanding to succeed.
For this reason, it is the projects that are pioneering and doing something innovative which are able to gain traction and have increased chances of success. One project that has been gaining momentum lately is Valhalla.
What is Valhalla?
First, I’ll tell you what Valhalla isn’t. Here, it’s not the majestic hall located in Asgard and presided over by the god Odin as told in Norse mythology. In this case, Valhalla is an NFT project building a community for gamers around the world. Valhallas team aims to create a novel experience for their members, tailor made for those as passionate about gaming and culture as they are.
So far, we know that the project will consist of utility-enabling profile pictures for gaming and streetwear enthusiasts. By holding its NFT tokens, members will be granted access to an exclusive community, events and digital drops. Valhalla has already managed to garner a strong following of 23.4k on Twitter, despite the current market condition. Additionally, the Discord is very active.
Who Is Behind Valhalla?
Valhalla is powered by Stacked Studio, a Web3 consumer startup studio based in LA, and also a core team of season builders from institutions such as Y-Combinator, MIT, Google, Uber and Goldman Sachs. By browsing Valhalla’s website, we can see that every team member is properly doxxed with links to LinkedIn pages and it appears that together, the team is top tier. Additionally, the website shows us that “Valhalla is a Series-A startup backed and trusted by some of the world’s best founders and investors”, such as Paul Veradittakit from Pantera Capital.
Valhalla doesn’t only just talk the talk, it also walks the walk. On August 31st, it was announced that Stacked Studios had raised $15 million over two rounds of fundraising. In addition, on August 4th, Valhalla announced an official partnership with Sentinels, the premier esports team of Valorant. For those of you who may be unaware, Valorant is a 5v5 character-based tactical shooter from industry leaders, Riot Games. If all of this doesn’t make you take Vallorant seriously, then the fact that it did this in Times Square NYC back in June may help you reconsider.

When Mint?
After learning all of the above, you’re probably feeling eager to mint. The mint date is tentatively in September, however, the team have yet to commit to a date. Mint details will be in flux pending market conditions, project readiness and other variables. The team has also yet to announce a mint price, but we do know that this isn’t going to be a free mint.
To get on the Whitelist for this project, you will have to go through its pilot application program which can be found on its Discord. The application process was created to let prospective members tell the team more about themselves. By doing this, the team can evaluate members beyond a handful of Discord interactions and select members they want to carry their brand forwards. To learn more on why they are doing this, read this thread from the CEO.
So far, everything is looking very bullish. On top of the stacked team, huge funds raised and partnerships, the art and animations also look very cool. Looking at the caliber of people who follow Valhalla, it appears that there are many big names interested in the project, including WGMI’s very own Bento Boi and Koser Plug. While it is no measure to judge a project on, it can certainly be a good indicator.

It is too early to say whether this project will be a success or not, but it’s certainly looking as if it will be. It may be worth dropping it a follow, turning notifications on and keeping this one on your radar.
