Those that can master SEO are being handsomely rewarded. With billions of searches performed on Google every day, ranking highly with strategic keywords is extremely lucrative.
But climbing Google’s ranking ladder can be competitive. It requires planning, strategic thinking, consistency and time. People are starting to realize how powerful AI tools like ChatGPT can be in helping them with their SEO strategy.
Not everyone knows about it (yet).
In this article, I’ll show you how you can improve your SEO using AI tools like ChatGPT.
AI Tools For Keyword Research
A keyword is a search phrase. It’s the words you use when you search in Google. If you want to increase traffic to your website, then make it your mission to figure out what keywords your target audience are searching for on Google.
We can use ChatGPT to help us brainstorm the long-tail keywords that our potential customers are searching for on Google. You can use this method to brainstorm hundreds of ideas in minutes. You can then use tools like Google Keyword Planner, SemRush and Ahrefs to identify which of these keywords have high search demand and low competition.
Prompt: I run a blog related to [Describe blog].
My goal is to [Insert goal (e.g. increase website traffic, increase product sales)]
Brainstorm 100 long-tail keywords for my blog.
If you already have a number of keywords ranking on your website, then you are in a much better position to rank for keywords related to a similar topic. Let ChatGPT know what words you are already ranking for, and ask it to think of similar keyword ideas.
Prompt: Here are a number of keywords I am already ranking for on Google: [List of keywords]
Brainstorm 10 long-tail keywords on similar topics

Improve On-Page SEO With AI
Google reads the URL, SEO title tag, the title of your page, and its meta description to understand what your content is about. That’s why you need to make sure each of these elements are optimized to rank for your targeted keyword.
The tricky part is writing these elements in a way that both includes the keyword and sounds organic and enticing. ChatGPT can help us with this.
Prompt: I am writing an article about [TOPIC]
I want to rank on Google for the keyword: ‘[KEYWORD]’
Please create the elements listed below for my article (give a few options for each).
- URL: Make this short and snappy
- SEO Title Tag: Write the keyword naturally, do not include single words, do not to repeat words, avoid being spammy, and make it under 60 characters in length
- Title (H1): Make it similar to the SEO Title tag, but exciting and sparks interest.
- Meta Description: Make this one or two sentences.
Pro tip: ChatGPT’s suggestions are probably good enough to copy and paste. However, I take the ideas it gives me and add my own style to them. Alternatively, you can give ChatGPT specific feedback (e.g. “I don’t like the wording ‘Unleash the power’, can you give me alternate wording”) to generate more customized ideas.
Off-page SEO: Link Building With ChatGPT
A big part of improving your ranking on Google is to build up your backlink profile. That means increasing the number of other websites that link back to your website.
Backlinks are essentially votes of confidence from one site to another. Google perceives backlinks as a signal that the other website likes your content. It means your site is more trustworthy, and you shoot up Google’s rankings.
There are a number of strategies to get more backlinks, and every single one of those strategies is time intensive. Fortunately, every single one of those strategies can be made easier with the help of AI.
Guest Posting
One of the most popular (and effective) strategies to build up your backlink profile is to write guest posts for other popular websites. AI can help us every step of the way.
Step 1: Create a list of websites in your niche that accept guest posts
Type the following phrases into Google to find blogs that accept guest posts:
- [NICHE] “Submit a guest post” – for example, Making money online “submit a guest post”
- [NICHE] “guest post”
- [NICHE]“guest post by”
- [NICHE] “accepting guest posts”
- [NICHE] “Write for us”
Put all of the websites you find that accept blog posts into a spreadsheet. Use SEO tools like SEMrush and Similarweb to identify whether these websites have a lot of traffic (and therefore valuable to have a backlink from).
Step 2: AI-powered outreach
Now you have a list of websites that accept guest posts, you need to reach out to them with a persuasive proposition. We can use ChatGPT to quickly write hundreds of outreach emails in one day.
Prompt: I want to improve my SEO and get more backlinks by writing guest posts for other blogs.
My website and blog is called [NAME] and is all about [YOUR NICHE].
I want to write a guest post for: [WEBSITE]. Some of the popular articles on this website include:
[INCLUDE TITLE OF 3-5 RELEVANT ARTICLES]
Please write an email to [WEBSITE] proposing to write a guest post for its blog. Make three suggestions for articles that are relevant to both my niche and [WEBSITE]’s content.
Make the email snappy and to the point. It shouldn't take more than 30 seconds to read.
Pro Tip: If possible, before you ask ChatGPT to write your outreach email, copy and paste all the text, instructions, and requirements for guest posting from each website. This will make sure your email is highly customized to that particular website.
