Lifestyle brand, Playboy, is set to enter the metaverse with the launch of the ‘MetaMansion’. Users will be able to enter the mansion and participate in gaming experiences that will see NFTs and unique awards become available to the Rabbitars community, holders of Playboy’s first NFT project.
According to a Medium article, the partnership will create an immersive journey for both The Sandbox LAND and Rabbitars communities. “Experiences in The Sandbox will feature gaming, social play, programmed events, and ongoing digital collectibles releases that leverage Playboy’s vast content library, incorporate Playboy’s talent and influencer network, and bring Playboy’s coveted fashion styles and must-attend live experiences into the metaverse.”
Playboy is known for its entertainment and innovative approach to social experiences. By partnering with The Sandbox, Playboy opens a new chapter and brings 70 years’ worth of experiences to the metaverse. By entering the virtual world, Playboy is bringing its global fanbase to one space. “We’re thrilled to work with The Sandbox and its best-in-class design and development team to build a premium, customized Playboy gaming and social experience in the metaverse,” said Rachel Webber, Playboy’s Chief Brand & Strategy Officer. “We can’t wait to invite our global Playboy fanbase, and in particular our Rabbitar community and The Sandbox LAND owners, into this new immersive world of Playboy.” Besides the official statement, Playboy also announced the partnership through Twitter.
This is not Playboy’s first journey through web3. Besides the Rabbitar collection, the company released ‘Liquid Summer’, a genesis collection that featured a multitude of Playboy’s most iconic moments existing on the blockchain as collectible memorabilia. Considering that Playboy was both experienced and excited about a virtual experience for their fanbase, Sebastien Borget, the COO of The Sandbox had no doubts. “Playboy is emblematic for its charm, lifestyle, and entertainment content that has transcended generations and that has already stepped into Web3 with early success,” said the Co-Founder of The Sandbox. “We’re pleased to bring its rich archive of content into the metaverse and enable true fans to become virtual neighbors of this iconic brand during a future upcoming LAND sale in Q3 2022.” Similar to Playboy, The Sandbox announced the partnership via Twitter.
We’ve seen many iconic brands step into the NFT space, however, fewer into the metaverse. Playboy’s partnership with The Sandbox shows the possibilities that lifestyle brands have within web3. By stepping into web3, projects are growing their communities by providing customers with a platform to interact with one another, no matter where they are from. Whether more companies step into the metaverse is yet to be decided however, it’s evident that opportunities exist within web3.
