What is Omega Runner?

Omega Runner is an upcoming project created by a star studded, Hollywood experienced team looking to make their mark in the NFT space after conquering the film industry. Credits of the team include The Hunger Games, Lego Batman and Birds of Prey. The story telling background of the team is clear to see when it comes to Omega Runner, with lore being an integral part to its appeal. The project will launch 5,000 limited edition comic books pre-mint, these will detail some of the lore behind Omega Runner. Those who buy the first 1,000, will be eligible to claim a First Edition Collectors NFT. Comic holders will all qualify to mint the first 5,000 NFTs, whilst details on how the other half will be distributed are yet to be provided.

In regards to the art, there has been a primary focus on the storytelling aspect as opposed to how each PFP will look. With a targeted mint period of the summer, there’s still plenty of time to showcase the aesthetics. The art itself is of high quality, with a futuristic look that fits the theme of the project perfectly. Racing has also been teased although details of how this will work are still withheld.

Roadmap

Until now, a full roadmap has not been revealed for Omega Runner, although the team have stated that holders will be able to collect new drops, augment their NFTs and play games with the community. Details however, have arisen for those that are lucky enough to purchase one of the initial 1,000 comic books, thus qualifying for a limited first edition NFT.

  • Free Mint, just pay gas
  • Exclusive access to First Edition Discord channel
  • Invite-only events IRL and online
  • Collectors-only upgrades for future drops
  • First access to future mints
  • Allow list spots from partner projects
  • Bragging rights

Team

Omega Runner is backed by a team of individuals with genuine Hollywood experience, further showcasing the cultural impact of NFTs. It remains to be seen if they can shift their skillset from the film studio and writers table, over into the Web3 Space. The founding team are fully doxxed, understandably so, given their backgrounds.

Bryce Anderson

Part of BAYC, Bryce worked in creative development at Warner Bros on movies including Lego Batman, The Meg and Mad Max: Fury Road. In 2015 he joined production studio: Clubhouse Pictures and now shifts his focus to his very own NFT project.

Bryan Unkeless

Bryan boasts an exceptional portfolio when it comes to movie production credits, including I, Tonya, Bright, Dollface, Birds of Prey and The Hunger Games. His history in the NFT space is unclear although his production expertise will no doubt prove invaluable to Omega Runners.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan

French born, award winning Hollywood film director, Cedric has a passion for Japanese animation, superheroes and movies. Omega Runner gives him the opportunity to combine his love for these with years of storytelling experience. Notable credits include, Kate, The Huntsman: Winter’s War and Snow White and The Huntsman.

Blaise Hemingway

Spending years on the Disney Animation Story Trust, Blaise has a background in writing and producing movies, television, VR, books, comics and plays. Recent projects include Netflix film, Vampires vs The Bronx and Paramount movie, Clifford The Big Red Dog.

Metaversal

Co-Producers of Omega Runner, Metaversal is an NFT holding company that specializes in building and investing in NFT projects and the technology that drives them.

Analysis

Bullish case

We’ve seen recently how lore heavy and storytelling driven projects have managed to succeed despite the bearish conditions that remain. Omega Runner is as lore heavy as they come and with the background of the team behind the project, there is little doubt that they will be able to tell an entertaining and engaging tale. With this, comes a lot of potential to build upon the project with further lore, games and perhaps a launch into the Metaverse. The involvement of Metaversal is also a sign to be bullish as it ensures long term finance having already made a variety of successful investments. Something the company would not have done without confidence in the project.

Reservations

It can be argued that it’s still relatively early days when it comes to the hype building cycle, but there seems to be minimal amounts of buzz around Omega Runner. Despite the impressive credentials of the team, it has less than 6K Twitter followers and 1,292 Discord members at the time of writing. Engagement as a whole is rather flat to be honest. Whilst it’s true that we’ve recently seen a number of mega hyped, 100k+ follower projects flop, community is one of the key aspects to consider when we judge an upcoming collection.

At a glance Omega Runners do not appear to have the capacity to succeed regardless of the fact that there are plenty more details to come. Only time will tell.
