Hello again!

Straight off the heels of GPT-4’s emphatic launch, a wave of game-changing tools have been released in the last week. We’re here to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Here’s what’s on the agenda today:

  • 4 new AI tools revolutionizing graphic design and video editing 🧑‍🎨
  • Is Bard (Google’s AI chatbot) better than ChatGPT? 🤔
  • A curated list of 500+ powerful AI tools 🦾

🧑‍🎨

Graphic design and video editing just got easy

The graphic design and video editing industries have been flipped upside down in just seven days.

A new wave of AI tools are empowering people with zero experience to perform complex editing tasks. What used to take hours now takes seconds. So if you use content in your personal or business life, then these tools could save you hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars every year.

1. Midjourney V5

If you haven’t already tested the new model, then you’re in for a treat. People are shocked by how realistic the Midjourney V5 images look.

Here are some side-by-side images of V4 and V5 using the same prompts, so you get an idea of the improvement.

This AI model understands prompts and creates realistic imagery like nothing we have seen before.

Businesses are using Midjourney to create logos and websites. Huge Instagram accounts are even using Midjourney to spice up their posts with realistic photography that is AI-generated.

If you want to learn how to create AI art for yourself, then check out our guide on how to use Midjourney V5 and how to use advanced Midjourney prompts.

2. Adobe Firefly AI

Adobe has officially thrown its hat into the AI ring with a suite of tools it is calling Firefly. The tools, including tech-to-image generation, will be first integrated into Adobe Express, Photoshop and Illustrator.

In Midjourney, you can create beautiful art and graphics. The problem is that the output is a JPEG that cannot be amended without using other image editing software. Firefly changes this. By integrating generative art capabilities within Adobe’s suite of applications and services, users will be able to manipulate and amend the art as they wish.

Some of the tools include:

Text to image: Create unique images from a detailed text description
Text effects: Apply styles or textures to text with a text prompt
Inpainting: Use a brush to add, remove, or replace objects in an image. Generate the new fill with a text prompt
Sketch to vector: Turn simple drawings into editable vector images

Adobe Firefly is available in Beta right now. To use it, you will need to request access using this form.

3. Runway AI (Gen-2)

Runway AI is creating AI software that promises to revolutionize the way we think about video creation.

This week, it announced that its latest version, Gen-2, will allow anyone to create full videos just from text descriptions.

Re-read that last sentence, and think about it for a second. Describe a scene (“a man riding a bear into battle”), and this tool will create a video of it for you on the spot.

The results aren’t yet photo-realistic. But when they are, it’s hard to imagine a world where content creators of every kind don’t use this powerful tool.

4. Canva’s New AI Features

Canva just introduced a whole new range of AI tools for its members. That includes:

  • Magic Design: Upload a picture and a style and Canva will make a design for you
  • Magic Eraser: Use a brush to tell Canva which part of your design you want to remove
  • Beat Sync: Use AI to sync audio to your videos
  • Magic Presentations: Generate a first draft of your presentation slides with a prompt (just like Tome)
  • Text to Image: Not as impressive as Midjourney, but makes generative AI art accessible to every Canva user!

Graphic design will never be the same again 🤯

Is Bard better than ChatGPT?

Google has officially unleashed its AI-powered chatbot called Bard.

The new AI chatbot is initially available to a limited number of users in the United States and the UK. According to Google executives, the plan is to accommodate additional users, countries, and languages over time. Users are able to join a waitlist at bard.google.com.

Is Bard better than ChatGPT?

Bard has some advantages over ChatGPT. Firstly, it is connected to the internet so it can provide timely information. ChatGPT is only trained with data up until 2021, so cannot answer questions relating to current events. Bard can.

Many users are also reporting that Bard is much quicker compared to its rivals.

For now, however, Bard doesn’t seem as capable of performing some of the more complex tasks which are possible with GPT-4, like coding. A key difference is also that businesses can harness the power of OpenAI’s models in their own tools, something which is not possible with Bard.

And very much like its competitors, Bard is also culpable of getting facts wrong and making up information without warning – something researchers call ‘hallucination’.

In these early stages, it’s clear that Bard is impressive. Whether it quite matches up to ChatGPT though is yet to be determined.
