British rock band Muse is preparing to make music and Web3 history when it releases its upcoming album via NFTs on August 26th.
The endeavour will see ‘Will of the People,’ the band’s ninth studio album, be released with 1000 NFT versions, which will be sold for £20 apiece on the NFT platform Serenade. The NFT versions will come with a downloadable album which comes as high-resolution FLAC files, a distinct digital ‘sleeve,’ and digital signatures of the band members. Each of the 1000 buyers will also have their names permanently listed on the album’s linked roster of purchasers.
In order to ensure that all of Muse’s multi-generational fanbase can get involved with the project, each buyer will not be required to set up/own a crypto wallet before making a purchase. Instead, one can be automatically generated once a transaction is made.
Despite the UK’s Official Charts Company (OCC) making NFT albums eligible for the charts several months ago, this will be the first instance of a verified NFT album entering the UK and Australian charts. That being said, given that there are only 1000 NFT albums up for grabs, the endeavour will have no bearing on the album’s overall performance in the chart.
