What is Machina?
Machina is an NFT project coming soon to the Ethereum blockchain. Set in an underground sci-fi dystopia, Machina is looking to be the next entry into the anime meta with striking visuals that look like they’ve been pulled straight from a high end manga comic due to the incredible details and hand painted style of each PFP. While finer details of the project are still to be revealed, such as mint date and price, we know that there will be 10k tokens available on release.
The community is primed and ready for Machina, with an impressive 83.4K Twitter followers and a Discord membership of just above 24K. Machina’s core focus appears to be building a solid community first, then perfecting the product which can be seen with a non grind approach to WL. Due to this, we’ve been treated to a plethora of amazing fan art and the vibe is generally amazing amongst its followers. With more news to be released in the near future, Machina has a strong starting point to push on and really create a hyped project.
Roadmap
As of now, there is no roadmap for the project, although in an article written by Will Fan, a writer at Forbes, it was revealed that founder Pyeong doesn’t necessarily believe in a linear roadmap due to the dynamism of Web3 and the evolving nature of the NFT space. Despite this, he and the team are aware that utility will be vital to the long term success of Machina.
Team
There is no official information on the makeup of the team, however, with a little detective work, we’ve been able to dig up some of its members. While this may not be a complete list, it should cover the core.
Founder – Pyeongyang.eth
Jumping into the NFT space last year with a token from Vogu Collective, Pyongyang found himself drawn into Web3 and the opportunities it provides. He is a firm believer in community first projects.
Art Director – Dylan
Boasting an impressive background in art within the games industry, Dylan has worked for companies such as Blizzard, Tencent, NetEase and is a concept artist for battle royale game, PUBG. A small portfolio of his work can be found on ArtStation.
Advisor – 0xInuarashi
0xInuarashi is a busy man in the NFT space. Founder of Gangster All Star, Martians NFT and Cyberlabz, he is also associated with Anonymice, CyberKongz and EtherOrcs.
No doubt, his experience will be a huge benefit to the team.
Advisor – Takoa
With a verified, blue tick Twitter account and 292.5K followers, it’s safe to say that Takoa is an influential figure. He is a founder of Forgotten Ethereal Worlds and The Lambda Clan. Takoa also has a prominent giveaway account with upwards of 165K followers.
Art Director – Jejouw
Another blue tick Twitter account, Jejouw is the creator of Karafuru, therefore, bringing first hand experience of bringing a successful NFT project to market.
Advisor – Wiz
Final member of the advisory team, Wiz also brings huge levels of experience to the project. He is manager of Issa and is involved with Swans NFT and Whitelist Warriors alongside his role at Machina.
Analysis
Bullish case
Without concrete information on the utility of the project we need to look at things at a surface level. First of all, the art is without a doubt a key selling point, especially in these early days. While falling into the anime meta, the art hits differently, with a hand painted look that leans more towards realism than other anime inspired projects. Next, if we examine the community, it’s clear there is a lot of hype around the project which is no surprise considering the founders community first approach. As we all know, most projects live and die by their community. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly at this moment in time is the team, specifically the advisors. While the founder is clearly passionate about the NFT space and the artist has talent, this doesn’t lead to guaranteed success. However, with the advice of individuals who have been there and done it, there is every reason to be confident that they can carry Machina to great places.
Reservations
Without a roadmap, we have no idea on what benefits holders will have available to them outside of some subjectively amazing artwork. Further to this, mint details are still unknown and with a large day 1 supply, price will need to be perfect in order for a clean sweep of initial allocation. Until we know more, it would probably be best to keep Machina at arms length. Despite this, it’s hard to believe that the team will make any decisions that will alienate the community given the ability and experience of the advisors.
