If you missed it this year and suffered from FOMO, then fear not, Art Basel is your next opportunity to gather with fellow enthusiasts and explore your favorite projects.
What Is Art Basel?
Art Basel was started in 1970 by Ernst Beyeler and it is now the leading global platform connecting collectors, galleries, and artists. Art Basel’s fairs are a driving force in supporting galleries as they nurture the careers of artists. Art Basel’s publications The Art Market and the Art Market Principles and Best Practices are a commitment to increasing the transparency and accountability of the art market. Its Initiatives strive to create unique artist-led experiences and strengthen local art scenes.
Art Basel is strongly rooted in the principle that galleries play an essential role in the development and promotion of visual arts. Galleries are invited to participate after extensive review. This ensures that each Art Basel show presents modern and contemporary artwork of the highest standard.
Art Basel hosts annual art fair stages in Basel, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Paris. It works in collaboration with the host city’s local institutions to help grow and develop art programs. It provides a platform for galleries to show and sell their work to buyers, but now it has also gained a large international audience of art fanatics and students too. While all of the fairs are significant, Art Basel Miami Beach 2022 has attracted attention from many of your favorite NFT projects.
Art Basel Miami Beach 2022, What To Expect?
Art Basel Miami Beach takes place from December 1st to December 3rd, 2022. This year’s fair is predicted to “be the biggest edition yet” marking its 20th anniversary and featuring 282 exhibitors. In its American-based show, leading galleries from five continents show significant works by masters of “modern and contemporary art, as well as the new generation of emerging stars”. This year, it appears as if the new generation of emerging stars are NFTs. Here are the notable names and projects that are involved.
G Money
NFT influencer and creative director G Money recently announced his first collaboration launch for 9dcc, a crypto-native luxury house and lifestyle platform. The collaboration includes a pop-up experience at Art Week Miami 2022. The event will be located within NFT Now and MANA’s gateway powered by MoonPay, the highly-anticipated Web3 metropolis spanning 2 city blocks in Downtown Miami.
As a part of the event, 9dcc is excited to announce that G money has been working with the founder of Art Blocks and generative artist, Snowfro, to launch its collaboration product ITERATION-02. The product is a luxury white t-shirt that will be sold at Art Basel through a unique in-person minting experience. Even though Art Basel Miami officially starts on December 1st, this event will be taking place from the 29th to the 3rd of December. Be sure not to miss this one if you’re there!
Pudgy Penguins
On November 6th, 2022, Pudgy Penguins posted a Tweet that stated, “it’s official, the Pudgy Penguins are coming to Art Basel.” The penguins will be vibing at the fair on Thursday the 1st of December from 7-11 pm. There isn’t much information on what the penguins will be doing at the fair, but be sure to keep an eye on its Twitter page for more details.
Clone X
Clone X’s community manager, Cas333, announced that the “Clones are heading to Miami Art Basel.” This will be the community’s last event before its 1 year anniversary as the project is looking to bring RTFKT vibes to Miami. Little information is available yet on what this will entail, but more details are promised soon. If you’re priced out of a Clone X token, fear not, “non-holders are welcome as well.”
Doodles
“25 days until DoodlePutt”, a Tweet from the Doodles team read. This is going to be a limited event that requires you to register. The registration is now open and it will remain so until November 11th at 9 am PST. The event is going to take place from December 2nd to December 3rd and will involve a variety of activities. Those who attend can expect to “be immersed in a brand-new Doodles world.”
Sappy Seals / Psychedelics Anonymous / The Plague Of Frogs
Do you already have plans on December 1st 2022? Well, if you do, then clear your schedule because Sappy Seal, Psychedelics Anonymous and The Plague Of Frogs have partnered up to bring you the Art Basel after party. The after party will take place at 318 NW 23rd St. Miami and the doors open at 9pm EST. To gain access to the party, you will need to own a token from any of the collections, then fill out this form. The official announcement teases “special guests TBA”, so be sure to keep an eye out for more detail.
PROOF Collective
One of the big names to attend the fair is PROOF Collective. The collective is going to be holding a “PROOF day lounge” on Friday the 2nd of December from 8 pm local time. What can you expect? Well, PROOF claims that it “is ready to come together and hang! All. Day. Long.” This event will let people meet the team, and the community, while enjoying snacks and drinks. To gain access to this long, you will need either a PROOF Pass, a Moonbirds token, or an Oddities token.

There are too many projects involved to mention. While the ones stated in this article are the most notable, others such as Cryptoon Goonz, Upstream, PunksClub, Fake Rares and more will be attending Art Basel Miami Beach.
Whether you can make it or not, or whether you’re interested or not, what cannot be argued is that this is a step in the right direction with regard to pushing NFT art into the mainstream. More and more adoption is happening on a daily basis right under our noses, and it’s only a matter of time. They may be baby steps, but it’s stepping in the right direction.
